Across East Africa, our teams experience miracles that practically jump off the pages of the Bible. This short testimony from one of our teams has a beautiful and Biblical history.
Acts chapter 16 tells the story of a man working as a jailer in the city of Philippi. On that particular day, Paul and Silas had been imprisoned, but God supernaturally opened the prison doors, freeing Paul and Silas. The jailer was so overcome with fear that he nearly attempted to kill himself, but Paul stopped him, showing that they had not left. Overcome by the power and goodness of God, the jailer asked what he needed to do to be saved by God. Paul told him that he only needed to believe, “along with everyone in your household” (vs 31). The passage then jumps to Paul and Silas sharing the Gospel in the jailer’s home with his family, where they all were saved.
In August, one of our ministry teams in Tanzania was doing door-to-door evangelism in a village before showing the Jesus Film. They came to a home where seven people were living, and using the audio Bible, they shared the Gospel with them. Their testimony about the experience was nothing more than this: “We thank God all of them accepted Jesus in their lives after sharing the Good News of Jesus with them.” The spartan report shows that although this is a miracle of God, and something to be greatly celebrated, it is not something that needs explanation. During the time of Paul in the Bible, and during our time today, entire families are receiving salvation through Jesus Christ. Praise God that He is the same in all ages, and is still saving entire families.
