When our teams go and lead a “JESUS Film” crusade in a village, they typically try to partner with a local church that already exists in the area. That church will often offer their outer building wall and grounds as a location for showing/hosting the event. In some places, however, there is not a church building anywhere within walking distance. In those circumstances, our teams will try to connect with a resident of the village to use their property for the event. That was the case for a recent evangelism event.
One of our teams, led by Pastor Moses, went to Mnalani, Tanzania to share the Gospel, but there were no churches within walking distance of the village. Because of that, the contact our team had with Mnalani offered for HLA to use his land for the “JESUS Film” showing.
In the span of one week, 214 people in Mnalani surrendered their lives to Christ after prayer, discussions, and seeing the film. Our team gave them an audio Bible, and they have begun a LAMP Group.
At the LAMP Group in Mnalani, much like the other LAMP Groups started across East Africa, new Christians Listen to God’s Word, Ask questions about what it means, Meditate on the meaning, and Pray together. Effectively, they are a brand new little church. They do not yet have a building to meet in together, but the host of the evangelism event has offered his land for them to use. The LAMP Group is actively worshipping God in their local language and studying the Word of God together, and their lives are changing because of the shared hope they now have in Jesus.
